A 40-Year Memory - Nixon/Agnew

August 5-August 8 - The Republican National Convention in Miami Beach, Florida nominates Richard Nixon for U.S. President and Spiro Agnew for Vice President.
A week that was overshadowed by another one a few weeks later. However, the long term impact of this week may have been far greater than Chicago, '68. Chicago's infamy lives to this day. But Miami's nominations forever changed our previously naive and innocent view of politics and our leaders. The two of them were the final step in the many that started with the assassination of John Kennedy. It would take a few years and the information from the Watergate break-ins to come out, but we became far more suspicious than we had ever been.
