No Argument

Galatians 3:26-29...for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.
I almost don't know what to say that can add any insight to this great passage. While it is easy to pick from among the countless times when we Christians don't live up to this or make our own personal exceptions, I know in the depth of my heart and soul that it is absolutely, positively, 100% true!

It is just such a belief that probably helped inspire the words of the Declaration of Independence- that "all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights... life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness." No, it was was not a reality, even to Jefferson himself, but it is that ideal that we must not miss. Yet the most segregated hour of the week may still be the Sunday morning worship service in most churches. We still struggle with racism, and sexism, and poverty.

But here it is- we are one in Christ. We are the children of God.

Yes, I always liked the ideal expressed in the quote and saw it as a worthy goal. Certainly, the logic implies inclusion, ad for our world today must include thse of other faiths, a recognition of common humanity and a sense of divinity that includes all of us. Peace.
