The First From a New Camera
I have been an avid amateur photographer since I was 7 or 8 years old. Here I am at age 9 at Niagara Falls with one of the early Brownie 8mm movie cameras. (Scanned from an old 35mm slide.)
Over the years I have owned a number of different SLR and other cameras and for many years was exclusively an SLR user. For a number of reasons, some good, some not so good, I didn't keep up with that level of photography. But now, aaahhh, here come the digital SLRs. As the prices have come down I have gotten closer to jumping back in. Last week I made the plunge. I bought a Nikon D40 dSLR with two lenses and over 6 megapixels. I am blown away. It has all the quality and ability of an SLR while adding all the bells and whistles of digital. No macro capability needed.
So in keeping with much of my photographic life, I decided to climb into the daylily in my front yard. All I did was take this picture:
and then using PaintShop Pro I zoomed in digitally to get this picture:
I can see I'm going to have a lot of fun, especially when we go on vacation to the Badlands and Black Hills! Slightly larger version cross-posted at pmPilgrim photoBlog.
More fun awaiting for my pmPilgrim photoBlog!
