Reflection
From downtown Minneapolis on Sunday, I looked up and saw this "broken building."
Reflections and lines are such integral parts of modern urban architecture.
But you don't even notice until you stop for a moment, like a tourist, a take a picture.

Reflections and Shadows: Sunset at the Ballgame
I had two Twins games last week. The first, with the Dodgers, was a fun game - we won. But as I sat watching the evening grow, I was aware of the shadows and reflections. So I made sure I got some pictures. As sunset approached, the colors shifted and the shadows became as much a part of the experience as the light. So here are seven of the pictures. Look at the lines and reflections as they build shadows.

There were some good baseball pictures, too, but I will save them for another day, especially since I have no more games until August.

Video Link to Celebration
Two weeks ago the Berea Moravian Church near St. Charles, MN, celebrated the completion of their Community House addition. It was fun and joyous. Here's the video I put together from the service. It is 15-minutes so it fits on You Tube. I hope you get a feel for the joy the congregation feels at this accomplishment. All thanks be to God!

Not Grandpa's Subway
Or New York's either.....
DesignBoom posted a series of pictures from what Fast Company called the Nine Coolest Subway Stations in the World. Astounding is another adjective that would fit.
Moscow’s Komsomolskaya Station
Olna Centrum Station in Stockholm
See all the pictures and the other six stations HERE.

Paving Paradise
The Infrastructurist - America Under Construction lamented 11 Beautiful Train Stations That Fell To The Wrecking Ball (And The Crappy Stuff Built In Their Place).

#1 is truly a disaster from 1963 when Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan was torn down for Madison Square Garden.

The train station is still the busiest in the world, but you might as well be in a subway station.
#11- Detroit's Michigan Central Station still exists but is in trouble. The others have been replaced by vacant lots, parking lots, highway interchanges and buildings of all different types.
But then I think about some of the stations that have been preserved, even if they are not necessarily train stations anymore. I have been to St. Louis Union Station, Washington D.C. Union Station, Union Station Chicago, and the best and brightest (in my humble opinion)

.... Or Up and Down
And now for the human-constructed at DirJournal as they also look at the Tallest Buildings in the World. Some really great pictures and some amazingly awesome buildings around the world.
But I have to admit that I am still partial to the granddaddy of them all: The Empire State Building. (right)
No disrespect to 9/11 or any of the other buildings, the ESB has character and class that has been around a long time. It is still #1 in my book.
