Quick Reflection

Driving west around Mobile, AL, last week we glanced out over the bay and there, behind the battleship USS Alabama (from that vantage point, anyway) was the Carnival Cruise Ship that had to be towed into Mobile Bay due to all kinds of problems. Our first reaction was "Wow! That's a big boat. It's bigger than the battleship.

Well, thanks to the Internet and Google I looked it up-

and we were right.

The Cruise Ship Triumph:
Length: 893 ft 4 in
Beam: 116 ft 6 in

The USS Alabama:
Length: 680 ft
Beam: 108.2 ft

It's the Triumph with more than 213 longer in length and about 8 feet in beam.

Not to mention that the Triumph has 13 decks, which since some of them are probably under water level, makes it about a 10-story building.

It is a BIG ship seeing it sit there in the harbor.

But the USS Alabama has a big advantage over the Triumph:

9 × 16 in (410 mm)/45 cal Mark 6 guns
20 × 5 in (130 mm)/38 cal guns
24 × Bofors 40 mm guns
22 × Oerlikon 20 mm cannons

Just saying...
