Will It Last? Can It Last?

Hamas and Israel agree to a cease-fire.

It's only a few hours old, but at this moment it is holding.

Has Hamas learned that just by attacking Israel they won't necessarily get all the support they thought they would from some of the other Arab nations? Perhaps the Arab spring has learned something from history?

Has Israel learned that the world is not ready for (oh no, not another) Mideast war with Israel invading a strip of land tinier than Israel is? The American government may just want a more stable peace?

May it me so. May it please be so.

But I for one am afraid to hold my breath. We humans seem to like to go to war.

May it NOT be so.

If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.

If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.

If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.

If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.

If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.
