The Blue Marble

Many say that for those of us around at the time, the first view of earth against the blank blackness of space was a game changer. It is arguably the most important world-wide photo ever taken. I would agree. It was a humbling experience. And we have only continued to see more through these past 44 years.

This past week, NASA released the picture at right as the latest and best ever picture of  home.

NPR's Science Friday posted a video last week about the pictures of our "Blue Marble" earth. It is a brief history from "Earthrise" and Apollo 8; Blue Marble; Pale Blue Dot; and now Blue Marble 2.0 and even 3.0.
