Who Would Jesus Kill?
I have had some respect for Rick Warren of Saddleback Church. His Purpose Driven Life is well-done and a good look at deepening one's faith. His Purpose Driven Church has helped many churches move into a faithful way of ministry. Celebrate Recovery from Saddleback is a good Christian recovery program.
With all that said, perhaps Warren needs to stay out of political discussions, especially on Fox News. It doesn't do a lot for his reputation as a moderate voice of the evangelical movement. Here, as reported in The Washington Monthly:
Last night, on Fox News, Sean Hannity insisted that United States needs to "take out" Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Warren said he agreed. Hannity asked, "Am I advocating something dark, evil or something righteous?" Warren responded, "Well, actually, the Bible says that evil cannot be negotiated with. It has to just be stopped.... In fact, that is the legitimate role of government. The Bible says that God puts government on earth to punish evildoers. Not good-doers. Evildoers."The title of this post says all that I want to say.

So sad, and dangerous, to see the continued injection of the Absolute into what passes for political discourse in this country...Warren, and others, frequently cite Scripture as a means to limit discussion by framing the issue under question in simplistic terms while ignoring the historical context of reality.
