Time for More Quotes
It's been a few weeks since I've shared some of the quotes I have been collecting. Today's set is a varied set that have no common thread other than to give me a post for today.
It's appropriate therefore to begin with a fictional character, Kilgore Trout, which only reminds us that even unreal people have something to say:
"The universe is a big place, perhaps the biggest."
Totie Fields was an overweight comedian who died in the late 70s. She often had fun poking jokes at herself. Unfortunately, this one hits too close to home for too many of us.
"I've been on a diet for two weeks and all I've lost is two weeks."
Speaking of poking fun at oneself, many rock stars in the 60s had fun with the reporters covering them. Jim Morrison, late, great lead for The Doors, explains why, though I like long hair, I now sport the short, buzz cut.
"Some of the worst mistakes of my life have been haircuts."
And finally, Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw may very well give us the real thread connecting these quotes.
"When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth."
