Bits and Pieces

What? No Movies?
No, no movies. Not for a long time. I guess movies are a wintertime sport for me. I think of stopping at the video store and then I think- no, not tonight. I want to sit out on my porch, read and do a crossword puzzle. That means I am way behind in my movies, of course. I guess it's going to be a lot of rentals for a while when the weather starts to change.

I Did Speed Up a Little
I have to admit that I pushed the accelerator a little further in yesterday when I crossed the Minnesota River on I-35W south of the city. I have never been one to be afraid of bridges, although I have thought about bridges falling down when I was stuck in traffic on one. But after last week I thought about it a little more deeply this time. It's not rational, of course. But then who says we humans are rational?

Hello Kitty = Bad Cop
From The Associated Press:

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Thai police officers who break rules will be forced to wear hot pink armbands featuring "Hello Kitty," the Japanese icon of cute, as a mark of shame, a senior officer said Monday.

Police officers caught littering, parking in a prohibited area, or arriving late - among other misdemeanors - will be forced to stay in the division office and wear the armband all day, said Police Col. Pongpat Chayaphan. The officers won't wear the armband in public.
