Shakopee Pow Wow, 2006
Sunday was a beautiful August day here in Minnesota so I headed over to the annual Wacipi (Pow Wow) at the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. What a wonderful afternoon of diversity and celebration. Here are three of my pictures from the day. Links to the rest of my pictures and the Wacipi website are below.

The Eagle Feather Staffs carried in are a moment of great honor and connect the modern Native tradition with history. They are followed by the flags. All of which are honoring the veterans who who served their country in preserving all our freedoms. It is neat to see the honor the Native culture gives to these Veterans.

Colors are just brilliant. I loved looking at them and just letting the colors merge and move to time with the drums and singers.
