From the Hall of Fame
I'm a week later with this because I didn't have it handy last week. But better late than never for one of the baseball greats who died last Saturday.
And a quote from "The Man:"
"The key to hitting for high average is to relax, concentrate, and don't hit the fly ball to center field." Source: 50th Anniversary Hall of Fame Yearbook (1989)
And let us not forget
Earl Weaver, Baltimore Orioles Manager who also died last Saturday. I didn't take a picture of his plaque at Cooperstown, but he's there, too.
Here are two quotes from the fiery manager:
"It's what you learn after you know it all that counts."
"On my tombstone just write, 'The sorest loser that ever lived.'" Source: Washington Post (October 6, 1986)
