Beyond Comprehension

Well, we Americans have been outdone by the Italians. At least when it comes to making science irrelevant and subject to prehistoric thinking. As if denial of evolution and global warming isn't anti-scientific enough for the Italians, let's take on those sloppy, incompetent scientists who can't predict earthquakes.

From the Christian Science Monitor:

Earthquake predictions and a triumph of scientific illiteracy in an Italian court

An Italian court sentenced scientists to jail time for not having a functioning crystal ball ahead of the 2009 earthquake in L'Aquila. The arguments of science and reason fell on deaf ears.

The seven convicted men stood accused of "inexact, incomplete, and contradictory" information about the risks posed by tremors in the weeks ahead of the April 6, 2009, earthquake that caused so much destruction.
