No Disagreement From Me

Rolling Stone
500 Greatest Albums of All-Time

What else but:

  • Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!

Not too shabby after that, either:
#2- Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys
#3- Revolver- The Beatles
#4- Highway 61 Revisited- Bob Dylan
#5- Rubber Soul- The Beatles

Personally I think The Beatles are the most overrated band of all time. They just produced well crafted middle of the road, extremely white songs from the tradition of stage and film musicals. Hardly rock and roll.

For 1960s, British rock and roll I would go for the Rolling Stones and for sheer, iconic, innovative genius, you won't get any better than The Kinks. Davies' songwriting makes Macartney look like an earlier version of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
