Gales of October

"Bomb Cyclogenesis" Pressure record smashed! Cat 3 hurricane level
So read the headline on the Minnesota Public Radio's weather blog, Updraft, this evening. What does that mean?
Simply put, bomb cyclogenesis is the formation of an "extratropical area of low pressure in which the central barometric pressure drops at least 24 millibars in 24 hours."

What does all this mean?
.LOOK FOR VERY WINDY CONDITIONS TO CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY...WITH WIND SPEEDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH AND GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED BETWEEN 7 AM AND NOON ON WEDNESDAY (NOAA- National Weather Service)
What DOES all this mean?

The end of summer. I know it is already October 26th, but we have had a great string of weather. It is over. For now. Snow showers possible. High temps in the 30s (F) Wednesday.

So it goes.

Here's the link to this neat animation of the drop in barometric pressure over Minnesota.
