For the Twins: It is Over

ALDSPan
Target Field, ALDS Game 2, 10/7/10

For the team from Target Field the season is done. It was good. Even great! But it was too short. Two sets of games too short.
“The trouble with baseball is that it is not played the year round.”
Gaylord Perry

Baseball reminds us, especially when we are on the losing side, that success can be fleeting. It can be taken away by a slump, a mistake, or an injury. Things change quickly and to win may also have something to do with luck and the right things coming together at the right time.
“Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer.”
Ted Williams
I have been a baseball fan for over 55 years. I have been through lots and lots of losing seasons and "Wait until next year!" moments. The Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, and now the Minnesota Twins. But there will be a next year. Baseball is that way.
“Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona. Not all holes, or games, are created equal.”
George F. Will
