Daniel Okrent in his book about Prohibition, Last Call, describes the prohibitionist crusader James Cannon, Jr.:
One friend said about [Cannon], "Like most humorless men, he had to make life into a crusade to make sense of it."I would agree about some people I have known over the years. (Probably including myself at times.) Somehow or another everything becomes intense, life or death, a crusade. Sadly I've discovered people like that are not allowed fun to be around. It's almost as if they can't enjoy life on life's terms.
