Double-Check the Calendar, Please
There is something wrong. It is September on my calendar. But the baseball standings sure don't reflect it. For one, Tampa Bay is fighting with the Red Sox for first place with the third best record in the majors. But that isn't the whole story. Something is terribly, terribly wrong for September.
The Chicago Cubs, with the best record in the National League (second best in the Majors), are the Central Division champions for the second year in a row.
It makes one wonder-- this is the 100th anniversary of their last World Series win.
Better pack up all your belongings, get right with your God, the end may be near.
And for one of the great historic baseball venues, last night was the end. Over 85 years of memories, the House that Ruth Built, Yankee Stadium has seen its last game.
A true piece of Americana will soon be gone.
