As the "Fun" Starts

We begin the two weeks of political over-feeding that may very well lead to two months of political bottom-feeding. We call these next two weeks The Political Conventions. Even as we hear about change, remember that some things never change and only the most unusual of politicians can actually make that leap. So, to get us off on the right (or left) foot, here are some quotes for the conventions. May they keep you satisfied- until The Daily Show starts...

Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev may have been a Communist, but he knew a deep truth...

Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river.
British writer George Orwell, never a fan of politicians was able to at least tell a bit of truth that should keep us on our toes as we listen to the candidates...
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
British Prime Minister and orator Sir Winston Churchill was never one to mince words...
Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.
R. A. Butler, British politician, managed to live by his own words...
In politics you must always keep running with the pack. The moment that you falter and they sense that you are injured, the rest will turn on you like wolves.
American religious leader and influential public speaker William J. H. Boetcker will end our pre-convention with the most important thing that will make a candidate truly successful- whether they win or not.
That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong.
