But It's Only Football
Or is it?
I really don't know how I feel. About Brett Favre et al. Pressures here, pressures there. Brett wants to unretire (and I was wrong when I said I didn't think we would do that.) The Packers want to move on since Brett seemed to waffle months ago. Could he come back and make it a Super Bowl year in Green Bay? Is that what this is all about? Or could be make it a Super Bowl year somewhere else?
What an awful mess it would be if he went to the Vikings or Bears- and then won. The Packers' leadership would have to sneak out of town in a hearse. And the ghosts of Lambeaus past would follow them. Might this be a straw that breaks the Packers' fans long-standing always supportive attitude? (Nah. Probably not.)
Yet the whole thing is kind of silly as well. Brett- just make up your mind and stop this cat and mouse game that has apparently been going on for a long time. It can't be about money. In the end it may simply be that Brett is not ready to give up being a kid.
But it is only a game. Please, remind me of that, will you. It is only a game.
