Flag Day
I am told that we Americans venerate our flag more than many other countries. I guess the fact that we have a day set aside as Flag Day may prove that point. But I can't resist. After all it is the flag of the first democratic revolution.
Well, this picture says it without red, white and blue. It is a picture of immigrant children displayed at Ellis Island, the national monument to the fact that we are a Nation of Immigrants. It may be the truth that we wouldn't be the United States without boatloads of immigrants over the years. And immigrants are often even more more patriotic and proud of their new country than some of the rest of us.
So let's wave the flag with these children and be an ongoing nation of immigrants seeking hope and peace.
