Wednesday Wanderings

First, a Wahoo! for yesterday's weather. Sunny. 60s. Spring. Even if the wind was gusting in the 45 mph range it was a hopeful sign of things to come. Wahoo!

================================

Second, it looks like we will be saying farewell to our own Minnesota Red-Tailed Planes. Northwest and Delta will merge, be called Delta, move headquarters to Atlanta and Minnesota will be a has-been in the airline industry. So have a lot of other places, of course. Remember Republic or even TWA and Pan Am? Living links with history. Of course we have had a love/hate relationship with good old Northwest. They were good for us- and they never lived up to all our hopes and dreams. They lost our luggage and were late. But they were ours. To quote Kurt Vonnegut, then, "So it goes."

Now how about another quote? This one's from the late surrealistic comedian Mitch Hedberg and you will see its relevance in a moment:

"I like an escalator because an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. There would never be an escalator temporarily out of order sign, only an escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

Here's an old one from Indexed last year. For some reason I have been saving it. And for some reason it feels right to unsave it to all of you today.

And finally, the reason behind my quoting Mitch Hedberg. Here is a link to a YouTube video. There are several variations of it on the site but this is the basic. I first saw it used at a training session to remind us to think outside the box. It is funny but as a metaphor for our inability to think beyond what we think is how things are, it is excellent. Enjoy....
