Sabbath Example

I wonder what the world would begin to look like if some people actually, I mean really, decided to take Jesus words seriously. That was my immediate reaction when seeing this posted yesterday by Cory Doctorow on BoingBoing...

Julio Diaz, a social worker, was robbed at knifepoint by a teenaged mugger in the Bronx. Instead of getting angry or scared, he offered the kid his coat, and struck up a friendship

Perhaps one of the basic lines of the story is this one:
[The teen at one point says,] 'But you're even nice to the dishwasher." Diaz replied, "Well, haven't you been taught you should be nice to everybody?"

"Yea, but I didn't think people actually behaved that way," the teen said.
Nowhere in the story does it say anything about Diaz's faith or if he even has one. Somehow or another another quote about "faith and works" comes to mind. Julio Diaz has shown the power of Jesus' words.

I guess people really do behave that way.
