What Do You Do With An Extra Day?
It only happens every four years. Tomorrow. February 29. So consider this post an important public service announcement.
Be prepared for the extra day. If you don't it will go right by without paying much attention to the fact that it is truly an extra day. This is a gift. It won't be around in another 365 days. It's not just any day like March 1 or even February 28. Those are common, pedestrian, average, normal.
Not February 29. Isn't that special?
Yes it is.
So what are you going to do with it? Waste it as if it were just another day? Use it up and wish you could have it back and do it again?
At the end of the day tomorrow will you glance at the calendar hanging there accusingly and realize, "Oh No! It's gone and I didn't do anything special."
Will you get up extra early to take advantage of the extra hours given you in your year? Or will you catch up on sleep missed because all other days are so un-special? Will you plan a party and invite all your friends you only get to see (or only want to see) every four years? You know that regularly scheduled February 29 gang of friends?
Maybe go find someone who was born on February 29 in say, 1948 and wish them a Happy 15th Birthday. But don't tell them they aren't looking their age.
Me? Well I'm fortunate to have the day off- though I have to work this weekend. But what will I do? I don't know. Probably waste it. But at least I was warned.
So don't say I didn't warn you.
