One Week Until Texas and Ohio
Well, we're down to one week until the next set of "make or break" primaries. Which is what they will be for Hillary if she loses big in both Ohio and Texas. If she wins or it is really close, don't count her down and out. I say this in spite of a New York Times Article Sunday On Hillary Clinton "Soldiering On." It had a sad wistful tone to it as if she were riding off into the sunset.
Yeah, right.
Consier this from Yahoo! News on Saturday:
WASHINGTON (AFP) - White House hopeful Hillary Clinton launched a scathing attack on Democratic rival Barack Obama Saturday in a bid to restore her front-runner status ahead of key nominating contests next month.Watching her on TV on Sunday also gave anything but the quiet soldier heading off into the sunset. It is a last-ditch and she knows it. Or I hope she does and doesn't try to maneuver into a brokering position.
After a day of denying that a series of 11 straight losses to Obama left her campaign teetering on the edge of defeat, Clinton changed to a sharper tone and went on the offensive.
"Shame on you, Barack Obama," Clinton said during a campaign rally in Ohio, which along with the southern state of Texas holds key Democratic nominating contests on March 4.
This morning's news talked about both Clinton and McCain taking out after Obama for saying he was willing to meet with Raul Castro. If there is one policy statement that may show the generational difference with Obama it may be this one. Not to mention his willingness to find a different direction in what has been a truly narrow view point. We will see what happens.
The other thing this morning was the headline on USA Today that Obama is now seen as the most electable. Well, if the polls and pollsters and pundits are as right as they have been.... this may signal a return of Hillary Clinton's campaign. (Note the cynicism, please.)
Then there's Ralph Nader. Don't get me started. Just don't. I don't care what he says, I am among those that still believes that his running in the 2000 election was enough to take the election from Gore and give it to Bush. Why, why on God's earth do we need a spoiler in this election? What does he think he has to gain? What does he think we have to gain by his running? I know politicians, among others, have to have a big ego and some level of grandiosity, but this is ridiculous.
(See, I told you not to get me started!)
Interestinger and interestinger.
