Shouldn't He Be in Jail?

Keeping up with the tabloids, and perhaps a shameless act that might get more people surfing to this blog, I just have to comment on this:

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- He's a 19-year-old pipe layer; a deer-hunting, dirt-bike-riding former high school class president who still lives in his tiny Mississippi hometown. So why are the paparazzi hot on his trail?

Because Casey Aldridge is an expectant father - and the mother is 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears.
Now I know this isn't true in all states, obviously. But as I understand the law in a number of states, this guy would be under arrest for sexual contact with a minor. He would become a sexual predator in many places. Maybe it has to do with her incredible family history, or what, but it doesn't appear at this moment that anything is happening.

Right or wrong, this points out one of the legal inconsistencies from state to state. Maybe I should surf over to Instapundit or one of the other blogs by legal experts to see what they have to say.

But then again, I have already wasted too much time on this non-event.
