Is This For Real, Girl?

Lars and the Real Girl gives Ryan Gosling another interesting character to work with. Shy and more than a little odd, Lars lives in the garage behind his family house where his brother and sister-in-law live. In his loneliness Lars orders a "Real Girl" doll- an anatomically correct sex toy. But he didn't order it for that. He treats her as a real woman.

Gosling is nothing short of inspired in his portrayal. He treats the doll as so incredibly real and develops such a chemistry with her that you almost begin to believe it. Well, those around him soon do and Bianca becomes a local hero.

It sounds like a cheap and cheesy movie. Don't believe that for a moment. With Gosling's acting taking center stage again, you feel for him- and for all those around him including Bianca. It has been a long time since I have heard the kind of real, deep laughter that I heard at this movie. I couldn't help myself as the sight of Lars looking lovingly at Bianca who just sits there.

It is heart-warming and hope-producing. It is a fun and touching movie. Enjoy!
