Take a Second Look Interesting, I thought, when I got my copy of Christianity Today magazine a couple weeks ago. I wasn't sure I liked it, though. The cover, as seen at the left was what I saw.
A cover spread on the new comedy, Evan Almighty.
Yes, it has a religious theme. But is it really something a magazine like CT should put on its front cover?
I then turned the page and came across another cover (shown to the right) that featured writer Donald Miller on the front.
Huh?
Well, the answer is simple. The movie purchased the four front and back pages as an advertisement. See, the word is right there above the "day" in Today. What is also interesting is that if you go to CT's website, at least as of yesterday, there is a "Watch the Trailer" ad right there above the fold.
I'll be honest, I have some mixed feelings, especially about the fake cover. For a magazine (and a corporation) to allow its name to be used as the ad, lending in this case an air of positive faith-based support, is a little odd at best. Makes me wonder if CT is having financial difficulties that they would okay this move.

I read Evan Almighty was the most expensive comedy made.
Don't know what the box office has been.
That reminds me of when a CT employee came to my blog and left a bunch of links. I thought I was being spammed and let them know.
It was a funny ha ha to them apparently.
I wouldn't doubt they may be struggling.
World is the fifth largest news mag in the US and it may have to cut to biweekly because postage and paper is getting too expnsive. It's hard to see things change sometimes, isn't it?
