Just Some Quotes to Ponder-
Reality Edition

Quotes are such a good way of saying something interesting without having to be too original. So, for a Monday after this past weekend, why not?

First, poet T. S. Eliot:

"Humankind cannot stand very much reality."
Next, Sci-Fi writer Philip K. Dick weighs in from his unique view that
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
Well, some of those realities that won't go away are often connected to one of our unique human unrealities, as philosopher Bertrand Russell points out...
"There is no nonsense so errant that it cannot be made the creed of the vast majority by adequate governmental action."
And then of course, we can always count on the immortal Will Rogers to bring us back to reality again...
"Ancient Rome declined because it had a Senate; now what's going to happen to us with both a Senate and a House?"
Well, lest you think I am being too cynical today, I will end with a quote from one of the greats of the faith, Saint Augustine, who had a firm grasp on the reality of humanity.
"O Lord, help me to be pure, but not yet."
