Deja Vu from Days Past
So here I sit in front of the tube. Monday Night Football with our beloved Green Bay Packers playing at Carolina. They are 0-3 on the season for the first time since 1988. Tonight doesn't look any better as the Panthers just scored again (3:19 left in the first half) to make it 23 - 7.
We all know that Packer fans are probably among the most avid and stalwart of fans. It is not because for the past decade or so the team has been on top. We became stalwart fans in the years between Super Bowl II and finally Super Bowl XXXI. The lean and fallow years, to say the least. But we never lost hope or our dedication.
Brett Favre just gave us the Title again. And hope.
So this season is not all that new to too many of us. Kind of like Red Sox fans (until last year) we know that fame is fleeting and separated by many years of wondering and waiting. Zeal out of the midst of patience is what has made Packer fans the fans they are.
But it is still better to be winning. And with Brett still around (grey hair and all!) we can continue to hope.
