Via Crucis Grid Blog:
Station #7: Jesus Falls for the Second Time

Time

is

moving

slowly

now.

It is unbelievably slow and difficult.

The heat of the day hasn't begun to break through to the street where the daily life is being interrupted by another Roman crucifixion march.

But for Jesus, it continues to become more and more difficult. He falls again.

But I wonder if someone helped him get up? Was there another bystander, like Simon, who helped him? Did a soldier reach down or use his spear to prod him to move?

Did Jesus respond or was he getting more and more numb?

So many ways to ponder and wonder and use the imagination to relive what is an un-reliveable moment. It is part of our human desire to make sense out of the senseless. We see it every night on the news and the talk shows. We want all to be neat and clean and organized- even death and war and injustice.

But in the end, all I can see is Jesus, falling. That's a vision with no answer, no insight, no action of God.

Unless we remember that this is God become man- Immanuel. How can there be any hope for us if he can't make it? Or is that the whole point of me walking along with Him so I can find what His life has been all about.
