Today- Some Kind of Day
Pray that today does not go down in infamy with such "great" ideas as the Alien and Sedition Act and suspending Habeas Corpus.
[Today] is the official deadline for cable modem companies, DSL providers, broadband over powerline, satellite internet companies and some universities to finish wiring up their networks with FBI-friendly surveillance gear, to comply with the FCC's expanded interpretation of the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act.-------------------------------------

Add Some Pennies
First-class postage is now 41 cents, up two from yesterday. With the USPS continually keeping these penny rates, we will never get rid of those silly coins.

A State of Extremes
I have blogged before about how Minnesota can be a state of weather extremes. Yesterday was a good example. The low temp in the state was 30 degrees F. at Hibbing, MN. The high temp was 95 degrees F. in a number of places, including my front porch. Truly amazing. And it wasn't even forecast to be that warm.

So- What Do You Call Your Carbonated Beverage?
One of the great ongoing debates in the American English language is what do you call those fizzy bottled or canned drinks? Pop? Soda? Coke? Well the map below and the accompanying link gets down to the statistical level. It does show that "pop" is the most common, at least in area coverage. I find it interesting that until I moved to Minnesota seven years ago, I have consistently lived in two states (Wisconsin and Pennsylvania) that wer divided east -vs. - west. I always lived in the "soda" country side. But they don't even sell it here in Minnesota. So I have to go back to Wisconsin to get soda when I want it.

A Word of Hope for All
Thanks to Brother Maynard for passing on the link to a merger of a traditional institutional and an emergent missional church. It is a remarkable story of faith, of grace, of mission! The Church is alive and well in this story!
