Easter 2007-
God's Kingdom and Power

I get up dark and early today. We have this tradition which I have only missed two times in 30+ years. Like the women on Easter we go out into the morning darkness, awaiting the dawn.

We go to church and then where possible, the graveyard in the gathering light. This unique Moravian tradition to enter the cemetery singing, music breaking the deathly sadness of such a place.

We go to the place of the dead- as did the women. But our journey is different. We do not go seeking a body to anoint with spices and oils. We do not go to grieve as others do who have no faith or hope. We go to confront death with a new Word made flesh.

We go to make a simple proclamation that rings through the ages and gives life and promise and hope and grace and forgiveness and everything that Jesus promised.

EasterThe Lord is risen!

The Lord is risen indeed!

It is Easter again.

No, it is still Easter- day in and day out for 2000 years now. And there is no end in sight!

Glory to Him who is the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in him, though they die, yet shall they live, and everyone who lives and believes in him shall never die.
