BANNRCA Christmas Meme
This was fun to do. A HT to Andrew for posting it for me to see.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate. Or better yet, a hot mocha coffee! Egg nog always tasted nothing short of yucky.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wrap presents? These new Christmas gift bags certainly allow him to get around the world faster. With the increase in population over the years, that’s a good thing.
3. Colored lights on tree or white? Multi-colored. There was a time I went through a “white-light” period. I’m not sure my daughter or my wife has yet forgiven me.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? I used to. Not any more. No good place to put it.
5. When do you put your decorations up? Generally, I am fairly liturgical The Starabout this. The First Sunday of Advent is my preferred date. I don’t put up anything outside except a wreath, so I don’t worry about getting the stuff up before it gets too cold. The star in the front window doesn't come down until Epiphany.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish? A Christmas Stollen. Well, it’s not a dish but a breakfast tradition. The first year in our church in Wisconsin, Lucinda, a 70 year old neighbor showed up on Christmas Eve with a homemade stollen. “Save it for the morning,” she said. We did. Warmed up, with a good cup of coffee as the presents are unwrapped. Ahhh. After Lucinda was unable to do that anymore I have to go looking for a stollen each Christmas and buy it. It's a good memory each year of Lucinda and her sharing her love.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Midnight on Christmas Eve our parents would “wake” us after Santa had come and we would go out where our aunts and uncles, grandpa and some of the workers at my dad’s store were gathered for the party and we would open our presents. I tried hard to stay up till midnight, looking out the window for Santa, but I would always fall asleep before he came. I wonder if Santa used elf dust to go ahead and put us to sleep?
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Truth? What is truth?
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Not generally. Our family now does that onThe Angel and the Lamb Christmas morning- unless we want to sleep in. [gr]
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? We have a box full of ornaments that we have bought and been given over the years. Each year is a time travel into our marriage and life together. (This will be Christmas # 35 in our marriage.)
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? If I don’t have to go anywhere, it is beautiful.
12. Can you ice skate? Not any more. I did. I always found it easier than roller skating and definitely far simpler than roller blading. Those rollers actually roll!
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?I don't know if it was my favorite of all time, but one of the more memorable was a real, astronomy-type, reflecting telescope. I had seen pictures of course taken through telescopes, but the first time I looked through my own telescope in my own backyard and saw the craters on the moon up close and personal- Wow!
14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? The light in the darkness and cold of December. (Literally, figuratively, and metaphorically speaking.)
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Pumpkin pie. I will also add Moravian Sugar Cake, which, though not a purely Christmas dessert, is usually only made in our house at Christmas.
Moravian Star16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Christmas Eve Moravian worship service with the star lit in the church, the candles being lifted high, a child singing Morning Star. There’s nothing like it.
17. What tops your tree? A star.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? You bet. I always like looking for that unique special gift for my wife that she least expects. And waiting to see what she gets for me.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? I currently have 699 Christmas songs of all [ALL] types on my iPod. But.... Nothing beats Silent Night, Adeste Fidelis, and Joy to the World.
20. Candy Canes? Nope. Never did like them. As far as religious holiday themed candy- I’ll take Cadbury Easter Eggs!
