Don't Look Back
The Oxford University Press Blog had this from the Oxford African American Studies Center. Each month, the editors of the Oxford African American Studies Center provide insights into black history and culture, and this month they are looking at the Negro Leagues. This week they had a piece on the great Satchel Paige. Here are his six rules as his guide to longevity:

1. Avoid fried meals, which angry up the blood.
2. If your stomach disputes you, lie down and pacify it with cool thoughts.
3. Keep the juices flowing by jangling around gently as you move.
4. Go very light on the vices, such as carrying on in society. The social rumble ain't restful.
5. Avoid running at all times.
6. Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you.

I have always loved his philosophy, especially the last. Keep on keeping on!
