Time Moves On
Of course it does. But every now and then someone dies and you realize how much it has moved. That's what came to mind when I saw last week that Nellie Connally, the former Texas First Lady had died. She was the last person alive who had been part of the drive from the airport past the schoolbook depository. Of course, if JFK were still alive he would have turned 89 this year. (Yes, the youthful president who will forever be youthful.)
Mrs. Connally was 87.
With the recent focus on Fidel Casto's health, we realize how much time moves on. Castro is probably the only world leader who was in power at the time JFK died. His time is coming to an end as well.
Then, Emilio Estevez is getting ready to release a movie about the assassination of Robert Kennedy in June, 1968. According to a bit I saw on Entertainment Tonight, it will be an account of 22 fictional characters who were there at the Ambassador Hotel. Looks actually kind of interesting, although for me that night was the turning point for me. I still have a tough time watching Bobby's last moments without wondering what it would have been like if....(Interesting that it is scheduled to be released the week of the anniversary of his brother, JFK's assassination.)
Anyway, time moves on. Sooner or later we all come to that realization that it will continue to move on after we are gone. Perhaps all we can do is hope that we have done our best.
