No More Favorites
Oh well. My ongoing support of teams that aren’t champions continues. For me it started in childhood. I was a Brooklyn Dodger fan. No explanation needed. The it was the Phillies who have managed only one World Series championship in their long history. Then think about the Milwaukee Brewers. No, on second thought, let’s not. The Minnesota Twins. And that’s just baseball. Even most of the years I have been a Packer fan (40 years to be exact), they have been anything but contenders.
Well, it has continued into this year’s World Cup. My #1 choice- the USA didn’t get out of the first round. Nor did my Cinderella team- Trinidad and Tobago. In the Round of 16 first my #3 team- Mexico is out and today all my hopes have gone as my #2 favorite, Spain, loses to France.
I don’t want to root for Brazil- they’re the champs so let someone else win. Italy is, well, Italy. So my wannabe-Latino soul will go with Argentina.
So, all you bettors- since I have stated my preference, go ahead and bet on Germany since they play Argentina on Friday.
But you know, rooting for the losing team sure helps develop character.
