Being a Winter Wimp From a Wimpy Winter
Yesterday here in the Twin Cities area we had a cold snap. It was in the 20s with wind chills. Now in most winters that wouldn't be news - or even a cold snap. It might even be our January thaw. But yesterday, as I was filling my car with gas, I was cold. It was almost shiveringly cold. I could hardly wait to get back in the car and turn on the heat.

At 20 degress? What? Have I become a weather wimp?

It's not my fault. Honest. Blame it on, well, climate change? Sure. Blame it on the weather.

The coldest day of this year, actually, since Christmas Eve, has been a day with an average temperature of 21 (on my front porch.) That was with a high- at midnight of 38 and a low of 5. For the month, the average temperature has been 28, which is 4 degrees above the normal high for the month. The average high has been 35. That's ABOVE freezing.

It has been a wimpy winter. It's making winter wimps out of all of us. I don't know what I'll do if we get normal temperatures anytime soon. I might even have to zipper up my jacket.

But in any case, not to be too whiny, let's look at it from a different perspective. If it stays this temperature into April, which is not out of the question, we may finally go below normal.
