Christmas Album of the Week-

WOW Christmas (Green)
This wildly popular series of contemporary Christian music does Christmas for the second time in the series' history. (The first was red).

As usual it is eclectic and different. This year's double disc set is fun to listen to as well as great for listening and worship. Some of the songs will surprise you, hopefully pleasantly. I always like new and unique ways to interpret the traditional Christmas music and I am not disappointed.

A Festival of Carols in Brass

Mystery For the Price of Admission

I didn't want to interrupt these Christmas posts, but I had to comment on King Kong, Peter Jackson's new film epic. It's not hobbit's, of course. It doesn't have the legendary mythical feel of The Lord of the Rings, but it is a really great ride for over three hours of movie magic. Jack Black is perfect as the crazy filmmaker. Adrien Brody broods appropriately. Naomi Watts out-Fay Wrays Fay Wray. And Andy Serkis makes Kong a real hero. Jackson out does everyone with dinosaurs, and major cockroaches, the repressed sexuality of the time and remarkable scenery from Skull Island to 1930s New York.

I sat entranced in willing (VERY willing) suspension of disbelief. Sure it's a movie. Sure it's even a remake of an iconic movie. Sure it's never going to happen this way. But I sure didn't care. I paid my admission, settled in for the ride and never let go. Even at over three hours, it was fun. Some of the ickier scenes could have been shortened and the Empire State Building scene went on way too long. But that's small compared to the fullness of the movie.

Now, how can Peter Jackson top THIS!
