Christmas Album of the Week

A Festival of Carols in Brass
The Philadelphia Brass Ensemble

As I was thinking about Christmas albums, I asked myself, what was the first real Christmas album I bought myself and do I still listen to it? The answer was this album. As a brass player I bought this on a friend's recommendation my freshman year in college (34 years ago). In those days it was actually 2 records. High quality versions of all the traditional carols played as only the first chair brass players of the Philadelphia Orchestra could do them.

Now, as a CD, both albums are in one. For the full brass of traditional Christmas, this is the one for me. I still play it every year. What a great tradition!

Previous albums of the week:
Go Tell It On The Mountain
The Blind Boys of Alabama

The Happy Holidays
A Bluegrass Christmas from
