Some Quick Thoughts on Another Sports Weekend

  • On College Football:
The Big Ten continues its crazy ways. Only Ohio State this week broke the trend of the lower ranked team beating the higher ranked team. In truly exciting ways Wisconsin beat Minnesota and Michigan beat Penn State. It would very well be that the team that "wins" the Big Ten this year will have had two losses. And still be a BCS contender. Amazing.

  • On Pro Football: NFC Central
Bears: 2 - 3
Lions: 2 - 3
Packers: 1 - 4
Vikings: 1 - 4 (And were they clobbered by the Bears!
All this with
Brett Favre looking as good as ever and only getting better;
Culpepper looking like a nobody instead of the 2nd best QB last year;
(Maybe Randy Moss DID make Culpepper look good, after all.);
The Vikings showing even less class off the field with a brewing sex scandal.

  • On Baseball:
What a story this one is becoming....
The Chicago White Sox who have gone even longer than the Red Sox did without getting a pennant. It was last in 1959 when they were in the World Series. They last won the Series in 1917.

Not to mention Houston Astros. Yes, they have only been in the league since 1962. But that's a long time. That's 44 years. They have never been in the World Series. What excitement!
