Patience
One of the interesting things about Jack McDevitt's books is his generally fictional chapter epigraphs. Having just finished reading his latest, Firebird, I kept a record of some of the better (to me) epigraphs. Here's one:
The problem with patience is that it takes time. There's usually a payoff, if anyone is still around to receive it.

Which just goes to prove what I have always said:
Don't pray for patience. God will just make you wait.
