Via Crucis Grid Blog:
Station # 11: Jesus is Crucified

What none of us has been waiting for has arrived. The event that all the disciples have been trying to keep Him from talking about is happening. The natural extension of all that he has said and done for three years of ministry is before him.

I cannot watch. I still have not seen the Mel Gibson movie, The Passion of the Christ. I have difficulty because I know it is not about Jesus but about me.

Such passion. Such Passion!

I am awed and confronted and challenged and humbled by it.

Such willingness to take what must be taken in order to stand up forever at the right hand of God is nothing short of miraculous. Yet it is the kind of life that Jesus is inviting me into thougout his ministry. He has never hidden that fact. He has never sugar-coated it into some success and wealth Gospel. Then, just in case I, like the other disciples miss the message, he lives it.

Or rather, He dies it in order to bring life.

O Jesus, there are no words that can say it today. On my knees in humble adoration and hope and fear and strength beyond myself, I give You thanks. Amen.
