Good News for the Blogosphere
After some concern around the blogosphere that united both conservative and liberal bloggers, the Federal Election Commission has allowed bloggers to continue to be political and uncontrolled:

Regulators brought Internet political advertising under the nation’s campaign finance law Monday but declared that all other political activity on the Internet would be untethered by federal rules.

Under the new rule, bloggers on the Internet would be entitled to the same exemption from the campaign finance law that newspapers and other traditional forms of media have long received.

What I found most interesting was the following quote:
“There will be no second class citizens among members of the media,”
While I wouldn't consider this blog a part of the media, maybe I should. Media (which is of course plural) isn't just about news, media is about opinions and essays and insights. I guess I do qualify.

It is good to know that in this new Internet age, it is possible for media to be expanded to include the new and growing and on the edge places to get news and opinion. I am also glad that in some small way I can make a small dot in the greater story.
