Fence Me In
Yes, it was for real, believe it or not. Last night on The Daily Show, they ran a piece about the women's correctional facility in a neighboring community across the river from us. It was a piece about the fact that there is no fence around the prison. And the neighbors and mayor are fighting to keep it that way. It is guarded by...
...a hedge. Yes, a row of bushes. (No, I don't know if the bushes are thorn bushes.)
Often when you see a piece like this you wonder how much they make up- and why people would put themselves through it. Well, it is for real. A local paper had an article that said that The Daily Show was coming to town and that some people had refused to be interviewed. Others obviously were willing- if only for their moment on TV.
They interviewed some security expert who thought the people were **** crazy. So he felt it would probably be best to just build a fence around the whole state.
Uff dah.
So out here in the not-so-frozen-this-winter wilds of Minnesota, it must be Minnesota Nice or something like that, that keeps them behind bars. I'm sure it's not the hedge, though.
