Brrrrr
After the warmest January on record in Minneapolis, we are now getting our first taste of winter. It never got above 0 F today and they are telling us it could be the coldest in 10 years. But, hey, what would us Minnesotans do if we didn't have the weather.

Which brings me to today's post-theme. Thanks to Weatherwise magazine, here are some weather quotes. The first fits with what I have just said:

  • Change of weather is the discourse of fools. --Thomas Fuller
But you know, it's something to talk about. And I have a hunch that this one is a better idea:
  • To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring. --George Santayana
At least that's why we say we live where there are four seasons. This next one is for my friends on the east coast and in SE Minnesota after their big storms:
  • There's one good thing about snow, it makes your lawn look as nice as your neighbor's. --Clyde Moore
And finally, one that reminds me of the secret of prayer from an old Hasidic story (i.e. don't pray for rain in the dry season):
  • The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain. --Henry Wadsworth

(Which I assume also applies to when it is frigidly cold as well!) Keep warm out there tonight.
